My Mission

Fertility, pregnancy, loss, labor & delivery, and postpartum are an individual experience.  While there are similarities within communities, each expectant person’s passage through these life altering moments is individual. My approach as a Birth Doula, is to provide compassionate, inclusive, and unbiased care. You will receive all evidence-based care, not fear-based. These moments can be stressful, and my job is to support and nurture you in the most comforting way.

My mission is to meet you where you are in this moment as our paths cross, and to create support for you based on your needs and goals. You are not here for me; I am here for you.

I believe that Black Lives Matter. I believe there are gross disparities between white maternal healthcare and that of people of color. This must change. Birth work IS political and there is no way around that. I believe we have gone too far the other way and have lost a sense of what birth represents, or better yet, what it doesn’t.

I believe every pregnant person deserves to have a respectful and supportive experience. I believe that when a person gives birth, they are to be listened to, and cared for, in the most honorable way.

I am thrilled to announce that I am now a birth education teacher with Birthsmarter!

About Me

I am a Canadian transplant & iced coffee fanatic who loves the human spirit. I moved to NYC in 2010 to pursue my passion for performing. What NYC gave me was so much more than I had ever allowed myself to dream of! It gave me love, passion, and challenged me beyond anything I had experienced thus far. The city broke me down and built me back up stronger than ever, and shifted my focus.

I softened my gaze on my goals, I opened myself up to more possibilities. I realized my life did not have to be this OR that; it could be this AND that…and that and that. How liberating!

When I leave a birth, I feel the same rush that I feel when I leave the stage or a tv or movie set. To say I’m grateful for this tandem career is an understatement. My deep love for understanding people was born from empathizing with different roles, characters and situations of the human condition; Where are they coming from? going to? and how can I stay in the moment and bring these aspects of humanity together?

And now, in birth support, how can I support people to keep them grounded, informed, and in the moment?

Since becoming a birth worker I have had the honor to support families that represent all family structures in the New York area through pregnancy, labor & delivery, and into postpartum.
